Performance evaluation of redirection schemes in content distribution networks

چکیده
Content distribution on the Web is moving from an architecture where objects are placed on a single, designated server to an architecture where objects are replicated on geographically distributed servers and clients transparently access a nearby copy of an object. In this paper we study how the di erent redirection schemes used in modern content distribution networks a ect the user-perceived performance in normal Web page viewing. Using both simulations and experiments with real Web servers we show that redirection schemes that require clients to retrieve di erent parts of a Web page from di erent servers yield sub-optimal performance compared to schemes where a client accesses only one server for all the parts of a Web page. This implies that when replicating Web pages, we should treat the whole page (HTML and images) as a single entity.

LPKP: location-based probabilistic key pre-distribution scheme for large-scale wireless sensor networks using graph coloring
Communication security of wireless sensor networks is achieved using cryptographic keys assigned to the nodes. Due to resource constraints in such networks, random key pre-distribution schemes are of high interest. Although in most of these schemes no location information is considered, there are scenarios that location information can be obtained by nodes after their deployment. In this paper,...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of URL Routing for Content Distribution Networks
As the World Wide Web continues to grow in size, content is being co-located throughout the world in Content Distribution Networks (CDNs). These CDNs need entirely new methods of distributing client requests. The idea of a URL router has been introduced and in this dissertation the performance of URL routing is addressed. A URL router that uses HTTP redirection to automatically forward requests...
متن کاملUser Specific Request Redirection in a Content Delivery Network
This paper discusses user specific request redirection for personalizing responses to user requests in Content Delivery Networks (CDN). User specific request redirection refers to the process of redirecting user requests to a server on the content delivery network based on user specific information carried in the user request. Current redirection schemes in CDNs are either based on the authorit...
متن کاملA Technique for User Specific Request Redirection in a Content Delivery Network
This paper presents a technique for user specific request redirection for personalizing responses to user requests in Content Delivery Networks. Current schemes for redirecting user requests to a content delivery server in a Content Delivery Network are either based on the authoritative DNS model or the URL rewrite model. The authoritative DNS model is not flexible to support user specific redi...
متن کاملMitigating Node Capture Attack in Random Key Distribution Schemes through Key Deletion
Random Key Distribution (RKD) schemes have been widely accepted to enable low-cost secure communications in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, efficiency of secure link establishment comes with the risk of compromised communications between benign nodes by adversaries who physically capture sensor nodes. The challenge is to enhance resilience of WSN against node capture, while maintainin...
